Chrome Hearts The T-shirt that makes you more attractive
If you want to up your chances of attracting beautiful women, you’ll need to splash out on some expensive designer clobber. At least that’s what most of us believe.
Alternatively, you could splash out on a plain Chrome Hearts white T-shirt with a letter T on it.
And apparently, you might be better off with the T-shirt. According to a new study, wearing such an item of sartorial elegance can increase a man’s attractiveness by an impressive 12 per cent.
Chrome Hearts Here’s the T-shirt’s secret and several more super-simple ways to present an altogether more appealing image to women.
Wear a
Chrome Hearts white T-shirt
For the study, male subjects of varying body shapes wore a plain white T-shirt with a large black letter T down the middle, along with one bearing an inverted T and one with no T at all. The pictures were then shown to 30 female undergraduates between the ages of 18 and 25.
The results were revealing. A white T-shirt with an upright T on it increased male attractiveness by an average of 12 per cent, but it had an even greater effect on the perceived attractiveness of men who were carrying a few pounds too many. Toned men were also seen as more attractive when wearing the T-shirt and upright T, but not by as much.
The researchers from Nottingham Trent University who carried out the study said the plain white T-shirt and upright T emphasises a man’s V-shape - broader shoulders tapering to a slimmer waist.
“The wider barred ‘T’ seems to emphasise the upper chest when upright, which accentuates men’s ‘optimum’ shape,” said psychologist Dr Andrew Dunn, who led the study.
Toned men may get an attractiveness boost by simply wearing a well-fitted
Chrome Hearts white T-shirt, which emphasises their natural v-shape.
Wear red
Alternatively, you could just wear anything, as long as it’s red. According to a study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology, all else being equal, women fancy guys in red more than they fancy guys in other colours.
According to the lead author, Andrew Elliot, a professor of psychology at the University of Rochester, it’s all to do with power and status: “We found that women view men in red as higher in status, more likely to make money and more likely to climb the social ladder. And it’s this high-status judgment that leads to the attraction.”
It’s an idea that makes sense. After all, when a high-status individual visits we roll out a red carpet rather than a blue one. In ancient Rome, powerful people were called “the ones who wear red”.
Look brooding
If you think a beaming smile is the quickest way to a hot date, think again. A study by the University Of British Columbia found that women were least attracted to smiling, happy men, at least when judging them on first impressions.
Instead, they were turned on by men who looked brooding, which might be an indicator of pride, said the researchers. Proud men might also be men with status and resources, they suggested.
Smiling, on the other hand, may signal a lack of dominance, because men who smile a lot may feel the need to please others.
Crack jokes
Apparently women really are looking for a good sense of humour, if one recent study is to be believed. It found that men use humour to show off their intelligence to women, and that it often works - particularly if women are looking for a short-term fling rather than a long-term relationship.
The research concluded that: “Men who were considered funnier also tended to be considered more attractive for both short and long term relationships but especially short term.”
If you’re not a natural funny man, just memorise a couple of crackers and bring them out whenever you need them.
Grow some stubble (but no more)
Put away the razor, move away from the shaving foam. Perhaps the easiest way to make yourself more attractive is to do nothing at all.
At least when it comes to beard growth, that is. Scientists took pictures of men at four different facial hair stages - clean shaven, five-day "light" stubble, 10-day "heavy" stubble, and fully bearded - and showed them to a legion of women.
Women ranked heavily stubbled faces as the most attractive. The five-day growth may be too patchy, the researchers write in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior, which suggests "a threshold of density and distribution may be necessary for beards to function as an attractive signal.”
Date at the theme park
If you’re both single she’ll find you more attractive if you take her for a ride on a rollercoaster.
Strange but true, apparently. According to the researchers who came to this conclusion, the adrenalin and excitement of a rollercoaster ride increases sexual attraction. That could also be true of other exciting activities, so going on adrenalin-packed dates - rather than another night down the pub - may help you get the girl.
So there you have it, a few simple - and scientifically sound - ways to make yourself more attractive to the opposite sex. So forget the designer pants - impressing really needn’t be expensive.
